This Vegan’s Plant Powered Christmas Party is Over

This Vegan’s Plant Powered Christmas Party is Over

It was a lot of work and a lot of fun. It is, as a vegan and a fair to middling cook and baker, my absolute pleasure to showcase delicious plant powered food for friends and family.

I want to wish everyone a wonderful holiday season however and with whomever you celebrate. I will be spending time with my treasured family, as well as reflecting on what my vegan and AR advocacy will look like in the coming year.

It’s this woman named Ren (Riding on the Power of Others)

I am sure that you have all experienced times when something, someone, a concept, a thought, an idea resonated so deeply with you, that you had to run with it without exactly understanding why. It seems corny to call it a “knowing”, but that is what it feels like to me, even though I am not quite sure what that “knowing” is.

I am not exaggerating when I tell you that it was not a pretty scene – me hammering away at the keyboard, trying to write and add features and pics to my content to …

The Canadian Commercial Seal Hunt: A Newfoundlander’s Vegan View

I am Canadian and it is astonishing to me that I know so little about the Commercial Seal Hunt, the roots of which run deep in the fabric of Canadian history. The only real childhood memory I have of the Seal Hunt is, funnily enough, a good one. I remember vividly the Christmas gifts of sealskin fashioned into boots, hats, change purses…. the joy that came from opening these treasures wrapped in festive paper and ribbon was palpable. Although the …

Veganism and Addressing the Abuse and Suffering of all Species of Animals

Veganism and Addressing the Abuse and Suffering of all Species of Animals

What do these two sentences mean to you?

Number One:

Nothing happens in a vacuum.

The first sentence is widely used today and was penned by some very wise person. Don’t know who, just know it wasn’t me. Khaled Hosseini, author of the The Kite Runner explains it this way:

Nothing happens in a vacuum in life: every action has a series of consequences, and sometimes it takes a long time to fully understand the consequences of our actions.

And how, pray tell …
